She wasnt sure why she agreed to go lunch with Leon,but she felt so defeated and wanted a change from Hibernating in her room with her music and thoughts. She woke up extra early to prepare the food for lunch for the family and spent nearly 2 hours worrying if she was meant to dress up or go casual for lunch with Leon. An hour before Raine was ready to leave. Harlem had called through. Like clockwork it seemed the only time she chose to go do something hed call but she could be at home all week and not hear a peep from him. She hesitated before she answered knowing Harlem and depending on what his mood was. She could either fall back to the old routine of chasing after him and waiting. But Harlem was still in assh*** mode spitting derogatory insults that would always leave Raine in tears without fail. He still held a grudge about her being at a another guys house. It didnt matter that it was Nessas bf. He didnt care. Raine found the strength to cut him off this time. Are you done? Harlem-what? Raine-are you done insinuating Im a hoe? Harlem-I didnt say you... Raine-You dont need to. its what youre implying with your accusations. You broke up with me remember? Harlem- its not like you care. Raine-you still dont get it. Harlem-get what? Raine-How in love I am with you. And Im starting to think you ever will. Because if you KNEW how much I love you,you would never question my feelings towards you. I never question you when you give me every reason to. Harlem-How?you think im cheating?I told you Im working all the time. Raine-but you make time to see your boys. Or if your family need you to do something you can take time off but you cant do the same for me. Harlem-so youre over me aye? Raine-No. All I want is for you to make time for me. Harlem-Im calling you arent I? Raine-Dont worry. I told you you wont get it. Harlem-what do you want from me? Raine-YOU. Thats all Ive ever wanted was you. Harlem-then go find someone whos gonna give you what you want then. Raine-My God. Thats your answer for everything. Is it so hard for you to see me or is it that you dont want to be with me? Im not asking for much. Just a bit of your time and attention. You make it sound like Im asking for the impossible. Raine tried her hardest to stop crying but she couldnt. She felt so hurt and frustrated that Harlem couldnt understand where she was coming from. Harlem-Do whatever. I dont care. Raine-you dont care about us? Harlem-I dont care anymore. He hung leaving Raine on the floor of her room sobbing into her palms distraught. Leon pulled up the driveway. Raine was already walking out to the car. Even though she wore shades. Leon could tell something was wrong. She gave him a weak smile. Leon smiled back not questioning her. He pulled onto the road driving off. Raine-where are we going for lunch?I can smell food. She inhaled with a frown. Leon-I thought we could drive to the city and have lunch at central park if youre up for it? Raine-wow. Yeah Ive never had a picnic before. He heard the excitement in her voice even though it was laced with tears. Leon could no longer feign ignorance. Leon-Good. Now tell me why youve been crying? Raine-I havent. My hay fever plays up making my eyes... Leon sighed cutting Raine off. Raine-Its nothing really. Leon-If you say so. Raine-I dont wana ruin our lunch with my depressing sob stories. Leon-Alright. Well,You have 30 mins before we get to the park making lunch official so if you wana cry or vent. You can. Raine stared at Leon who kept his eyes on the road. She thought it was the most ridiculous yet nicest thing a guy could say. She couldnt just cry. She suddenly felt her throat tighten up that she gasped for air. By the time she exhaled,the tears were flowing out. She couldnt hold the tears back. It was like Leon allowing her to cry was all the encouragement her emotions needed to pour out in a rush. Leon never said a word as she cried. He only reached over to grab hold of her hand which made her sob all the more. It took a while for her to pull herself together she didnt notice Leon had pulled up to the curb beside the park. Raine began to apologise but Leon shook his head,grabbing a handful of napkins he had packed to help wipe her tears. Leon-Its ok to cry. Raine-No. Its embarrassing. Leon-dont be ashamed for showing how you feel. Its better to release the pain than keep it locked up inside. Raine-But you barely know me and here I am crying ugly infront of you. Leon-I know enough about you. Now. Your 30 minutes is up. If you still need to cry. Youll have to have dinner with me aswell. Raine managed to laugh while she wiped away the remaining tears. She put her shades back on not wanting people to see the state she was in and nodded to Leon who got out to open her door before he grabbed the basket filled with food from the backseat. Raine grabbed his hand to stop him. He looked at her waiting. Before she lost her nerve. She stood on her tiptoes and placed a kiss on his cheek before she whispered. Thank you.
