I know a lot of people are feeling discouraged… I have to say that right now I feel hopeful. Not hopeful that the government will do the right thing for BCEd, its students & teachers, but hopeful because I have witnessed so many new people using their voices, becoming more active citizens, and more engaged in the issues. 12 years of being beaten down… the outcome of all this is surely going to suck because this government is more concerned with the trench they are digging on behalf of what I believe to be the premiers personal hate for the BCTF based on her twice-ruled-illegal legislation, than they are with what is truly best for BCs kids. I feel hopeful because we are not losing. We are holding the line. We have voices joining us on that line speaking up and out. Sometimes holding the line feels like an amazing victory. Sometimes not losing our footing can be a down right celebration. I have so many reasons to feel enraged, fearful, overwhelmed, but right now I am encouraged by the public support (however long it lasts), proud of our journey thus far, and curious about the challenges ahead.
