I know it is a bit like discussing religion, but I recently wonder - TopicsExpress

I know it is a bit like discussing religion, but I recently wonder if I should get a 35mm camera to balance my medium format lust. heres the background story: next year, I want to go on a hiking trip in Sweden (Southern Kungsleden Trail), and I most definetly want to take a camera with me. the photographer in me wants a Mamiya 6 (medium format! square aspect ration! legendary lenses!), the hiker wants a Minolta CLE (camera and lenses? small! lightweight! tripod needed? ligtweight! additional stuff? smaller filters! 35mm in canisters!) so my question is…how much better is the image quality of 6x6 compared to 35mm film? I do not intend to make giant prints, but it would be nice to go somewhere near 50x40 cm (not inches!)…yes, I am aware that almost every mf equipment will pretty much smoke that tiny 135 film - but I am not sure if it is woth the pains carrying it on quite rought terrain, where evey gramm counts! so, please feel free to comment on this - please keep in mind that this is a quite special situation, so theres no need for cameralism! cheers, Nils!
