I know its beating a dead horse but when will my people stop being so concerned with being cool, Having the latest shoes, using the latest slang, and staying up with the latest trends seems to be what men and women my age older and younger seem to be concerned with. Concerning yourself with being a better person, being comfortable in your on skin, and teaching our kids what really should be valued like integrity, honor, and intelligence seems to fall by the wayside. I am not naive to not understand the impact that media and the need to be validated play in these decisions that people make every day, But when it seems like a high percentage of my people are struggling with exhibiting certain behaviors because everybody else is doing it and this is the same struggle my 13 year old daughter is experiencing it really bothers me. Maybe we can elevate the idea of what is important one day, Just hoping that day is sooner than later.
