I know its late but now for the lecture I promised on Into The Storm. First of all one problem that I see with movies like that is that they deliver a false knowledge of severe weather, and even worse severe weather safety. For example, there is a scene where an outdoor graduation ceremony is suddenly interrupted by rain and a strong tornado. Everyone runs into the school and seeks shelter in the halls when all of a sudden the roof rips apart and debris blows into the halls. Oh, but of course by only a miracle all of those hundreds of people stand up after the tornado passes without a scratch on their body( which would obviously never happen ). Some other of the many faults in the movie: - the radar imagine at the beginning in the chase vehicle shows a gigantic supercell or whatever it was suppose to be covering nearly the entire state of Oklahoma. yeah ok..... - several tornadoes dropped down and trapped the chasers in a diamond type configuration. Never would happen - the meteorologist on board was concerned that one supercell had like 4 or 5 hook echos. Must of been a monster supercell.....:P - it was clearly not Oklahoma like they said. I know terrain when I see it. - at one point they ended up in the eye of the tornado. Dont even get me started. And their were many other errors. Believe it or not their were two good things it did do. 1. The graduation ceremony was a reminder that we always need to plan accordingly when a threat exist of severe weather and 2. It got me into the storm chasing spirit. Other then that, it sucked as expected.
