I know many people will not approve of what I say because they blindly love and follow Joel Osteen but truth is truth and I am a follower of truth in Christ alone and must respond in kind accordingly... What is the scripture reference for this? I do not receive words nor philosophy of men but the pure milk of the word. Joel says not to receive encouragement from men but only from self...the word says... 1 Thessalonians 5:11Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing. I have to question then, when someone speaks words such as these from Osteen, what part of himself is he suggesting that one would encourage ones own self, seeing as how Christ says we must deny our self, take up our cross of suffering to follow Him. No...I do not follow men like Joel, but Christ alone. I know that Joel has no discernment between his carnal self and his spirit by the words or the fruit of his mouth. His words are smooth and flattering so as to build up ones own self and soul life by the soul and not by the spirit. He does not precisely define one what part of himself he builds up nor what part of himself from which he draws his fount of life. A preacher of truth MUST clearly define such things in order to clearly define the path that leads to life. Just because a person uses Godly vernacular does not mean he is speaking by the Spirit of the Lord. Even Satan knows the scriptures and speaks and quotes the bible in great detail. Do not merely look and perceive according to the outer man lest the appearance of godliness devoid of the Spirit will look and feel the same as that which is truly of the Spirit. Many today are deceived because they seek only feelings and comfort or pity. The truth does not always feel good nor is it always comfortable but like a medicine, it does heal what ails the corrupted soul.
