I know that this post has nothing to do with recipes but I just wanted include in my prayers, all my friends in this group. I believe we all need a little protection, here and there! October is the Month of Pokrova According to Sacred Tradition, the apparition of Our Most Holy Lady Theotokos (Virgin Mary), known in Church Slavonic as Pokrov (protection), occurred during the 10th century at the Blachernae church in Constantinople (modern-day Istanbul) where several of her relics (her robe, veil, and part of her belt) were kept. On October, a Sunday morning, the dome of the church opened and the Virgin Mary entered, moving in the air above, glowing and surrounded by angels and saints. She knelt and prayed with tears for all faithful Christians in the world. The Virgin Mary asked her son, Jesus Christ, to accept the prayers of all the people entreating him and looking for her protection. Once her prayer was completed, she walked to the altar and continued to pray. Afterwards, she spread her veil over all the people in the church as a protection. In the Ukrainian, and other Eastern Rite churches, on October 14, we celebrate The Feast of The Intercession of the Theotokos or the Protection of Our Most Holy Lady Theotokos This feast celebrates the protection afforded to the faithful through the intercessions of the Theotokos. We fly to thy patronage, O Holy Mother of God. Despise not our prayers in our necessities, but ever deliver us from all dangers, O glorious and blessed Virgin.
