I know theres been a lot of posts about Robin Williams today and deservedly so. My sister just had me thinking about him again. She mentioned she liked Patch Adams and Im glad because I really liked that too. It was considered schmaltzy as were some of his other films, but I thought it was a great film and the philosophy of treating the person not the illness. I also loved - -The World According to Garp (that one inspired me to want to be a writer; I bought a typewriter shortly after watching it), -Awakenings (similar to Patch Adams philosophy and it also made me appreciate DeNiro as an actor), -Dead Poets Society & -Good Will Hunting (because they spoke to me about being different) and -The Fisher King (made me think about my own compassion for others). And not forgetting the fun and entertainment Mork gave me as a kid... In fact I dont think any other single actor has had such an impact on my life as this man and his films, and I am indeed grateful for his presence and saddened by his departure.
