I know weve covered David C Falcaro but I wanted to take a few - TopicsExpress

I know weve covered David C Falcaro but I wanted to take a few minutes to make a point about what this group set out to do and the type of people we are trying to expose. Falcaro isnt necessarily the worst martial artist weve seen, TECHNICALLY speaking. The general consensus I think is that his taijutsu is what most would expect from a competent nidan or sandan. So the fact that he is teaching a class is not really the issue, Ive seen some pretty bad stuff from him (his aiki and kenjutsu for example), plenty of OK stuff and a chunk of actually pretty good stuff, not taking into account his habit of putting as little effort into each technique as possible in an effort to mimic the style of Hatsumi or Ueshiba, or even Seagal (haha), which ironically taints his technique and makes him seem a lower standard than he would be if he were still actively training under a legitimate instructor. The thing that gets to me about Falcaro is that, despite the fact he actually came across as an alright guy and was pretty forthcoming and open with us, he has gotten to a dangerous point where he actually believes his own bullshit. He takes no shame in just willingly making stuff up to try to put himself in a position of power to compensate for an obvious lack of self esteem (past or present). Im not just talking about his lineage claims either - Take a minute to check out this video if you know anything at all about Japanese budo or the Japanese sword. There is SO MUCH disinformation here which he has clearly just made up on the spot to make himself look like someone to respect and admire. I called him out on it, in a very un-biased and un-aggressive manner I should add, but lo-and-behold my comment was deleted without being addressed. Sword stuff in particular really bothers me because although injuries can occur in unarmed training, the risks are just so so much higher with a 4ft razor blade in your hands and so details matter a huge amount. ***NOW HERES THE IMPORTANT BIT, ESPECIALLY IF YOURE A BYSTANDER TRYING TO DECIDE IF THIS IS A GROUP OF BULLIES OR A GROUP OF PEOPLE TRYING TO HELP!!*** Im not out there to bully anyone, even if (or even especially if) theyre terrible daydreamers who want to play ninja in their own time because of something cool they saw in a movie once. But it gets very dangerous when those daydreamers start to crave acceptance so much that they drag other people into their games with lies that could in all seriousness end in injury or worse, ESPECIALLY those injuries that happen when a student with a false sense of security and belief in their abilities tries to defend themselves or a loved one from an attacker. End of rant. youtube/watch?v=Zf2DgWiRAXw
