I know you have all been waiting with baited breath for my Top 10 - TopicsExpress

I know you have all been waiting with baited breath for my Top 10 Albums of 2014 and coming in just under a month late Ive narrowed it down. There were a couple of late contenders I didnt hear about until I read all of your Top 10 Lists (disregarding most as total doo doo). 1. Restorations - LP3 Seriously, they earned the #1 slot. LP2 was great and this just took all of that and kept going further. Hard to categorize in the best way. 2. Pianos Become The Teeth - Keep You Giving False Cathedral a run for its money. Incredible songwriting from a band that dropped all their screaming and angst for introspection and tension. 3. The Hotelier - Home, Like No Place There Is Your Deep Rest track 3 might be my favorite song of the year. 4. Beck - Morning Phase Step aside Sea Change.... this is what artists of Becks caliber should be making. Seeing it live was incredible. This album carries a mood across all of the songs on it. 5. Moose Blood - Ill Keep You In Mind From Time To Time Adam and I were lucjy enough to help makle the art on this record, and after it was all said and done and we actually heard it.... well.... I was stoked. If you like Brand New you should check this out. 6. Greys - If Anything Different from the get go. Abstract harmonies with all the drive of a Quicksand record. This debut record is solid. 7. The Menzingers - Rented World When the opening track is called I Dont Want To Be An Asshole Anymore you know youre in for a good time. These guys never disappoint and if it werent for On The Impossible Past being so good I would put this record higher up on my list (not a diss). 8. Explosions in the Sky & Steve Jablonsky Official - Lone Survivor Soundtrack Moody. Expressive. Reflective. All without saying a word. You give that a shot and see how easy it is. 9. Single Mothers - Negative Qualities The only aggressive record on my list this year (I know, Im a poser). These lyrics cut right down to it with no apologies and the riffs are just as brash. It reminds me abit of Dangers and a bit of The Bronx. I wonder if they got the rights to that Cleon Peterson piece. 10. Prawn - Kingfisher This is one of those latecomers I mentioned and if I had caught this since its been out it might have not been so hard deciding if I should include it or not. Great guitars that remind me of Braid and Explosions In The Sky having a baby that wrote a great record in 2014. Im excited to see these guys on their next run through this sunshine shithole. Honorable Mentions: Bayside - Cult / Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross - Gone Girl Soundtrack / Bane - Dont Wait Up / Braid - No Coast / Have Mercy - A Place Of Our Own More Than Honorable Mention PUP - s/t Apparently this record came out in 2013 but was released in the contiguous US in 2014 via Side One. It would be on this list if I didnt have so much integrity. Ok. Thanks.
