I learned today about Silbo Gomera, which is a whistled language - TopicsExpress

I learned today about Silbo Gomera, which is a whistled language used by inhabitants of La Gomera in the Canary Islands (Spanish Archipelago in Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of Western Sahara and Morocco in Africa). The people have interpreted Spanish in their whistle language after colonisation in 17th century (and can do so with any other language). It was declared as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2009.
