I like how kids have a free pass to say ridiculous stuff, and its cute instead of crazy. But obviously, we tend to draw the line somewhere. For instance, when a 16 year old girl told me tonight that she sees spirits and angels, and that mine was sunny, and following me all my life to help me out, first I thought maybe it was just the language barrier (Russian being her mothertongue). And then when we established that she definitely meant what she said, even though she couldnt express some of the finer points, I was right on the fence between honestly telling her that I dont believe in spirits, and playing along like she was just being imaginitive. If she was 5, I would have most likely asked some patronizing question like and what do the spirits look like? And if she was 25, I would have either assumed she was high or crazy. But teenagers are right on the line, and I didnt know how to respond. And Im fine with that.
