I, like much of the country, is in mourning over losing Robin - TopicsExpress

I, like much of the country, is in mourning over losing Robin Williams to an apparent suicide. Not that he was ever mine to lose, but I felt a kinship with him even though he never knew I existed. He battled his demons and made a valiant effort, fighting back from active addiction in the past. He recently was treated again this summer to help him maintain his sobriety. So long, Mr. Williams. Thank you for your work and for making us laugh. May you now experience peace of mind and heart that eluded you in this life. My thoughts and wishes for healing and grace goes out to his family and friends. Many people will mask their depression and addiction. Trust your instinct. If you feel concern, dont take no for an answer. Do what you can to intervene and encourage them to get help; however, understand that the responsibility for the final decision is always theirs. You may have done everything right and they still choose suicide. Most often attempting suicide is a choice people make because they want to end their suffering. They dont see that their suffering might be temporary or even unnecessary. It just is. Express concern, show reason for hope, offer your support and take them to help or get help to come to them when they make statements that make you scared for their safety. The National Suicide Hotline phone number is 800-273-8255. Dont suffer in silence, reach out.
