I like the mind of Paul Hodges a lot. This is from his book, Spinal Control: The Rehabilitation of Back Pain. These ideas are essential to NKT™. Heck, theres even research that proves what we do. Regardless of the stimulus for adaptation, not all components of the muscle system are affected in the same way, nor are the changes identical between individuals or between tasks. When individual parts of the trunk muscles system are considered in isolation this can lead to incomplete interpretation of the net effect of lumbopelvic control. A key issue is that although some changes suggest compromised control, others suggest augmented or even excessive control. It is our contention that rehabilitation should aim to optimize control to match the individuals abilities to their functional demands and this may require augmentation or reduction of muscle activity, or both.
