I like the story of Job in The Bible (Job is arguably the oldest book in the Bible. It might even be the oldest book in the world -- Its older than Genesis, though Genesis covers older material). Described as a man who was blameless and upright; -- feared God and shunned evil, -- Job had everything then lost it all, including his family, his livestock, his property, and finally his health. When he was at what looked liked the end covered with terrible sores all over his body from head to foot, the counsel of his friends and even his wife was that he should curse God and die! --But Jobs reply to advice that he give up and die is such an amazing statement of faith in God, it has become an inspiration to believers, ever since: Though he slay me, yet shall I trust him. -- It is at this point we find what scholars believe to be the first and oldest Messianic prophecy in The Bible: I know that my redeemer lives, and that he shall stand in the last days upon the earth. - Job 19.25
