I like this article because it has been on my mind a lot lately. Its a very good article to read for those of us who are material bound. Sometimes, I wish a fire would burn all the stuff I have up and I could start all over. We live in a materialistic age where we are constantly encouraged to buy more stuff; (gadgets, small appliances, books...I must have a couple of thousand theological books alone, clothes, shoes, coins, etc.) Every time a television commercial comes on we are encouraged to buy more and that is what some of us do. I read an article the other day that said a guy sold all he had on e-bay. Garage sales are only good for selling junk because your never going to get anything above junk price in one. Some of the extra stuff I have is brand new and I gave hundreds of dollars for it. I like the idea of an e-bay store with greatly reduced prices. If I live long enough I am going to sell out and simplify life. When you get all this stuff, you no longer own it; it owns you not to mention the maintenance of it all. I love art work and we have several paintings by a pastor friend that I dearly love but we have too much. Now that I am old, I want and need less. What it comes down to, is a bite to eat, a nice bed to sleep in, a couple of pairs of blue jeans, shoes, a couple of nice suites, my bible, a few good books, a good automobile, SUV, or pickup, a nice large diesel motorhome and a pocket full of money. Then it is hello free world. LOL
