I liked Francine Kolacz Carters post on random facts and now its MY turn to share facts that many of my friends may not know (or care to know) about me... 1. Ive been on stage in a string bikini as a bodybuilder and won a trophy. It was SO fun! 2. I won a Twist contest in Australia with a total stranger and shared the prize with him, which was a bottle of champaign. 3. I had my family declare me an old maid so I could get a VCR for Christmas because VCRs were the official wedding gift from my parents and I wanted one. 4. I love travel... and Ive traveled extensively around the world when I was younger. Some of my exploits include snorkeling the Barrier Reef, Climbing Ayers Rock, Biking across Amsterdam, Sampling the Beer Gardens in Belgium, Cheering the Stampede at Calgary, and Soaking in the Hot Water Springs of Banff. 5. I was named for Delores DeShawn, who was a nurse that cared for my older infant brother (Billy) who died in infancy. Since there were two Delores on the floor, she was called DeShawn and my mom named me after her. 6. Im a history buff and have distant family member who published a book on how my early ancestor, James O Conner, was kidnapped at 14 by the British from Ireland to fight in the War of 1812 against the Americans. He escaped and joined them instead. 7. Im pretty stubborn and set in my ways. A weekly conversation Mike and I have is him asking me, Do you know what day it is for you? Independance Day! and I secretly like it...Dont tell! 8. I never planned to get married, ever! I think most of you who know Mike and I, know that he is the best thing that ever happened to me! I really have an amazing, sweet husband. We have built a great life together and enjoy it! This was fun! Who gets to go next?
