I limit my time on facebook/twitter now, and I cant/never visit my home page. All these images of black bodies is effecting my mental, emotional and spiritual health in very negative ways. Dont get me wrong, Im happy that people are sharing the reality of these injustices, but theyre not new and theyre quite gruesome. This in the world we must live in. The excruciating truth is, whether I close my eyes to all these virtual lynchings or not, I cannot turn my skin off. Im still a young black male, a constant target, and its been this way forever. I know things are gonna get a lot worse. Maybe Ill be alive tomorrow and maybe Ill be a martyr, I hear it dont take much. Let me just go write another poem.
