I listened to about 20 people speak to City Council on Aug 26th during the Second Public Hearing held on the annexation ordinance that City Council is proposing, aimed at stopping the Wind Farm project that a company called APEX wants to build on the Chapman Ranch south of town. During public comment, I spoke to City Council saying: 1) I live 4 miles from the new wind farm in the Port of CC and love looking at the windmills. Nobody said a word about protecting my property rights when that wind farm was being built. 2) Many people I have talked to in District 1 feel that our crumbling streets and infrastructure should be rebuilt before we pay to push our borders farther out. The tax payers will be paying the bills that the annexation would bring - a very expensive water line, 2 lift stations and other city services such as fire and police to cover the 16 square miles that would be annexed. 4) We are trying to tell a long-time South Texas ranch family what they can and cant do with their private land outside the city limits.
