I lived at rear of shoe shop at 114 High Street Kew from birth in 1946 until April 1953. There 7 of us. Mum and dad, my older brother and 3 younger sisters. Our kitchen and dining room were downstairs and one bedroom and a bungalow upstairs. The toilet and laundry were outside. We shared the place with my aunt and uncle who had three children. They had a large lounge room upstairs. Not sure how many bedrooms they had. Thinking back it was a fire trap. Only one internal staircase. But I remember we had fun. Only play area was a tiny backyard and a laneway.
