I love it when a client comes too me and says I cant do that...... Whether its pull ups, squats, or even a plank. Ive been training long enough too know that EVERY exercise has a modification and with enough practice and consistency, you can surprise the hell outta yourself with what your body can achieve For example the video here, Im a far cry from repping out the un-assisted pull ups I did back in the day, but Im slowly working my conditioning and strength back up with the help of resistance bands. A little trick? Start with 1, light resistance band on a high rep. #dropset your reps following, slowly adding more bands as you go. Here are some other common, I cants: I cant squat: almost always clients are having difficulty with form here. Focus on correct form and add the aide on a bench or step until you feel comfortable. I cant lunge: once again, normally a form issue, but first try lunging off a bosu ball or focus on isolation with step ups off a short bench. I cant do cardio; running hurts me knees. Umm duh? Running is not the only cardio! Too ease comfort, take down inclines, focus on having a mid stride (not all heels) and try low impact cardio like spinning, swimming, of the row machine. Tag yourself or a friend that needs help with some modifications I love helping get rid of the cant! @justafitchick
