I love my Mom. I asked her how her day went the other day. She said well it was good. She had a knock on her door and there was a mom and daughter who were Jehovah Witnesses. I said oh yeah….. what did you do? She said well I talked to them a minute and the young girl was shivering so I invited them in to get warm of course. I smiled. Mom said “Oh I told them that I have my personal beliefs that are very sacred to me and that’s just who I am and then I said but you two come on in and get some hot chocolate and sit a bit and talk with me anyway. Mom said she got them some hats and gloves she had knitted to keep them toasty warm as they go about their day and they talked about my brother Joe and this sweet women’s sons because he has physical handicaps too. Mom said we had a real nice visit. Mom loves taking care of all of Gods children. She adores the sisters from the LDS church and would knit them hats, gloves and slippers. She was close to a very kind Catholic sister also and she has a dear missionary in Alaska that’s been a friend of hers since mom’s college years. I smiled and said you are wonderful mom and I’m so grateful that you look after everyone. Im thankful for everything you and Dad have taught me. She replied well of course, our job is to love without stopping and thinking whether or not someone is worthy of it just because we think differently. That’s just ridiculous thinking. I was raised that we are all here with a purpose to observe, grow and love and then return home. We are all just visitors. Mom said I connected with her as a mom and that itself is one of those reasons we are all here….to love and take care of each other. When God said love thy neighbor, he surely meant it.
