I love this article. it begins by explaining 4 key points which encompass the epitome of fast learning to the T, these are: Forget: Forget all your preconceptions. Active: Read actively and participate, engage. State: Feel the excitement and enjoy the curiosity. Teach: Read it as though you must teach it to others. The last point is what Im covering today, It might explain why Im a little strange. That point is TEACH. I remember that when I was 16, almost a decade ago, one of my mentors of the time taught me something which has affected my thinking ever since. He said that if you learn something and you want to remember it, then you must make it your objective to teach it to somebody else as quickly as possible. Upon hearing this I made it my goal that whenever I would learn an interesting, peculiar or counter intuitive fact I would immediately put it into my own words and text it to a few of my close friends. I became known for doing this several times a week. Ha look its Josh, hes doing that thing again, whats he gonna say this time.. The day of following traditional leaders is over. To grow quickly, look for teachers. A real teacher is someone who seeks to make each individual his own leader through knowledge and empowerment. It comes down to the whole, Give a man a fish, feed him for a day, teach him how to fish, feed him for a lifetime quote. A real teacher has no desire to rule, only to help those around him up to the next level so that they do not feel the need to be ruled. Confidence comes from self-leadership, it is built upon your independence. You might think that youre not a leader and you will never be one, but if you think that way then youve forgotten something, youre always leading someone and that individual is you. As long as you are reliant on the system or the culturally appointed oligarchs to decide your future for you, you will never be anything more than a follower, even if the system has given you a place at the table and a title to make you feel special. As long as you are vying for approval from the system or the collective, you will never be free. When you can stand in front of a hostile crowd of people and give your viewpoint without fear of how they may respond, then you are on your way to self-leadership. Check the article. Its pretty expansive, it gives you lots of avenues to explore, oh, and its inspired by one of my favorite men. If I was ever offered the fantasy opportunity to be stuck on an island for a month with 20 other individuals of my choosing, and I had to form a tribe to get along with and survive, Dave Asprey would certainly be one of them. Hero.
