I love this man with all my heart. I aspire to be as beneficially influential to someone in my lifetime as he, and others like him, have been to me. His ability to communicate complex subjects so simply to diverse audiences in a way that truly lends itself to the creation of a sense of empathy and compassion, even in many who would otherwise be unable to understand this perspective, is laudable. This is a man who weaves analogies into beautifully captivating tapestries depicting the human condition. I could sing his praises for days, but I will stop now and ask only that you take the 6ish minutes out of your busy schedule that it would take to listen to what he has to say. ESPECIALLY if you or someone you know suffers from Bipolar Disorder. And given the fact that Bipolar Disorder afflicts an average of 2.6% of the US population aged 18 and older, or 5.7 MILLION individuals if you prefer, thats not an outlandish assumption. And if you cant think of any... Well, maybe pay closer attention. Its beyond time we break the stigma of Mental Illness. And the more people that come out about it, the easier it becomes. I may have Bipolar Disorder, but it does not define who I am. Even though I am always aware of it and ever-vigilant, I no longer let my condition own me. Its times like these that I think back on a phrase said by someone very dear to me: You have Bipolar Disorder, but Bipolar Disorder does not have you.
