I made an interesting observation in retrospect today. I realized - TopicsExpress

I made an interesting observation in retrospect today. I realized that when I began my studies in Philosophy, I found myself on the political left. I had read a bit of political theory/philosophy here and there, but I became complacent with the critical left-wing view of society. However once I began to study much economic history and political theory, which I made my focus for both of my senor thesis, I realized that many of the arguments given on the political right were much more philosophically sound. To my dismay, I found the arguments on the left to be quite inferior. Then, after reading Robert Nozicks Anarchy, State, and Utopia, debating intelligent friends both on the political left and right, discussing political theory with my professors at UCLA, I now find myself on the libertarian right. Of course, Im not 100% libertarian. There is no such thing as the perfect political party, nor do I know of anyone whom subscribes to 100% of any particular political party or ideology; however its just slightly embarrassing that at one point in my life I was so zealous for something that I now wish to distance myself from. Its quite the humbling experience.
