I made the best out of my evening with friends after putting our kids to bed last night....we had some laughs, shed a few necessary tears with a few of my near and dears.... But the entire night, the only thing I could think about was hugging my kids again.... In the morning, when they get out of school, when they tell me something cool that happened to them, or sometimes just for the hug....and tonight was just for the hug....so when I got home from my tearful night with a couple of good friends I went directly to the kids rooms and gave them kisses on their foreheads and told them I love them.... Tonight was difficult for me just because I knew that really close friends of mine are in a lot of pain and sadness, mourning the loss of not only a co-worker but a great friend.... My heart is heavy beyond words for Jasons 2 young boys and his wife.....no family should have to endure such terrible news especially when the victim was just doing his job, a job that he loved and a job that he served with honor and integrity, a lesson Im sure his sons will learn in their years to come, that their daddy was a man of integrity, honor and bravery.... In closing Id like to remind everyone, no matter what line of work youre in.... Hug your kids, hug your spouse, hug your parents, hug your friends..... Because you NEVER know when the last time will be that you have that chance.... Its almost 5AM... Heres to my friends of the Topeka Police, Shawnee County Sheriff and all local Law enforcement, firefighters and paramedics....Im sorry for your loss of another brother in blue....my heart goes out to each and every one of you....
