I made the mistake of liking a friends status … but it turns out - TopicsExpress

I made the mistake of liking a friends status … but it turns out that I have learned some truly inspiriting and interesting things! Here goes! 10. Before I could buy a drink legally in the US, I chewed coca in Bolivia. 9. I once marched in a Cesar Chavez Day parade with the UFW and Cesar Chavez’s sister. I still know which wines to buy that are made by union farmworkers and think a lot about how our food is grown and how the people are treated who grow and harvest our food. 8. I was an AmeriCorps VISTA for Texas Rio Grande Legal Aid’s farm worker justice division. I know a lot about Wage & Hour, OSHA, and EPA protections. I decided I did not want to be a lawyer but still regret not going to law school. 7. I once frightened Minnie Driver at a Foo Fighter’s concert. Her entourage whisked her away to the sound stage away from common folk like me. Apparently no one recognized her but me, though. 6. I pierced my nose when I was 19. My Dad didn’t talk to me for weeks. 5. Ive been bitten by a German shepherd, a Doberman, a Dachshund and a Vietnamese pot-bellied pig. So, we have cats. 4. I have 30ish first cousins and love them all to pieces. Every time I try to count my cousins I seem to get a different number. 3. I used to play 2-3 sports per year. I stopped playing basketball in high school because I stopped growing by age 14. I miss it. 2. I went to Catholic school until high school which makes me sound more “privileged” than was the case. I learned a lot from being at a small school and just as much from living in a racially and socioeconomically diverse neighborhood. Not all learning happens in the classroom! 1. You can blame my upbringing for my career in the non-profit sector. I’m the daughter of a retired police officer and a retiree from Seven Counties Services.
