I may have been born in the 90s but I still can relate to a lot of these things. My parents are fantastic! Growing up, my brothers and I had everything we NEEDED but not everything we WANTED. If we wanted something we had to work for it. Not many things were handed to us just because we wanted them. But my parents made sure that we didnt go without. Television time was limited, except for rainy days. Once that time was over, we had to go find something to do. Whether we were inside down in the basement playing or going outside and collecting rocks from the driveway or picking a bouquet of dandelions, we always found something to do. Scuffed up knees and shins were an everyday thing. Our feet were black from running around barefoot all day. Skinned and scraped elbows from falling on the sidewalk. Neosporen became our best friend. And once we got into high school, if we did something wrong the principal had written and verbal consent to spank each of our butts. And if we ever got into trouble with the law, our parents said that they would make us stay and wait there and think about our decisions while they go out to eat, maybe see a movie, go shopping, go home pop some popcorn and watch television, go to bed, wake up the next day, and MAYBE think about coming to get us. If they didnt feel we thought about it long enough we would wait longer. Thank the Lord that never happened. Thats probably why I never did things like that because it was embedded in me that my parents wouldnt come get me for a LONG time. Shout out to my parents who drive me nuts sometimes but I wouldnt have it any other way. Greatest parents in the world award goes to mine truly ♥♥♥
