I may have found a calling. I rescued a dog tonight, driving three cities over to pick her up off a second story porch where she had been tied and left by the tenants who moved out. No one from the group who posted her plight could (or would) go into that neighborhood after dark to get her. Im glad I did. I took her to a home 30 miles in the opposite direction, where shell be vetted and fed and cleaned up and then hopefully adopted. She went from a shivering, terrified ,fear biter to a loving, playful sweetheart in just under two hours. Like that story about the man and boy walking on the beach, the boy picking up beached starfish and throwing them back into the waves. Son, there are hundreds of starfish stranded. You cant save them all. I know, Dad, the boy replies. But I made a difference for THAT one. And so goes my evening. I think I will do this again. Yes. For that one, this one and probably many more.
