I mean.... Sure, the cats part is aleatoric, but its all just atonal clusters, right? You could easily have made a very Webern-esque thing out of this. And the orchestral part sort of goes in that direction, but not entirely. The weird thing is that in this case, its more sort of tone-poemy and neo-romantic, what with the secondary dominants and chromaticisms built off of the randomness of the cat instead of incorporating more serialized stuff or post-tonal sets. #musictalk
