I mentioned these in an earlier video featuring the singer Fred Douglas who appears to have been the one common link between the various recordings made under this name. As was stated there, next to nothing is known about any of the people involved in these recordings, although this song has the reputation for being one of the silliest from the immediate post WW1 repertoire. On his website the comic historian Roger Wilmut says that after the horrors of the War there was a marked tendency to find relief in the purely absurd and songs like this became legion.
