I met a girl at the gym a while back, Amy, who said she had seen me there several times. She told me that she really wanted to make her body like mine, but she said her problem was that she normally joined the gym with a one year membership but then only went for about 3 months and not consistently. Sometimes it’s very hard to stay consistent, especially when you don’t have a powerful goal, and it’s very easy to get discouraged when you skip workouts or don’t do as well as you would like to, and it cause you to give up. As I said to Amy though, it’s good to learn from the past, but not to keep looking back there. Don’t think about yesterday or last year when you skipped going to the gym and become negative about yourself, that doesn’t help you. We always tend to focus on our failures and ignore our achievements, and that makes it hard for us to improve and move forward. Every day is a new day and a new beginning, and each time you achieve something, then praise and encourage yourself. Some people never even get to the gym, they just dream about it but never do it. Each day you go, that’s enough for that day, that’s a win. You become what you focus on, so focus on your wins and you’ll continue to win. Don’t dwell on your failures, or they will become your habits. Just keep your eye on the prize and focus on doing your best today, nothing else matters, just today. Keep going day by day and you’ll surely move towards the future you’re aiming for. – Gloria.
