I met a homeless Vet at Tractor-Supply this weekend. He was collecting money for the AmVets and we struck up a conversation. He gave me a copy of his resume, which included many years of service for the VA hospital system. I promised him I would forward his resume to folks I know since what he had done was similar to the work I do. He had stopped working to care for his mother and grandmother a few years back. His grandmother passed, and his mother suffers from severe dementia, so he lost his home 3 weeks ago. I felt compelled to give him some cash (not just the donation for AmVets). I told him I didnt want to embarrass him, but I felt the need to help. I scanned his resume and forwarded an electronic copy to him by e-mail yesterday. He emailed me back last night and told me he had $3 dollars in his wallet, and the cash I gave him bought gas for his car and fed him. I had no idea about his situation, but God somehow got through to me to help this person (I am not religious at all). Please think about the people you meet. You never know when your help can make the difference at a critical time in their life.
