I met a sweet little girl, twenty some years ago. She was waiting for me to decide if my daughter could join swim team so they could have an 8& under relay. I said, Yes, and the rest is history-- my history with an incredible child who brought the rest of her family and my family along on an amazing journey of friendships. Brooke and Laurie almost shared birthdays. Today is Brookies birthday. I have been blessed by Brooke and her family many times over-- and yesterday was one of those times. I am in my office and in walks a dear friend, Janelle, who just knows when I need care. She presented me with a gift of love.Thank you for the memory quilt, girls. I look upon it and remember those many years of swim meets when the tough little 8 & unders asked if they could move up and also swim in the 10 & under relay. I look and I see the oldest sister taking Laurie under her wing and paving a way for warm-ups when the pool was too crowded. Just follow Beth, I would say. Or the time Beth, swimming in the 15 & up / Open category asked if the 11 year old Laurie could swim with them so they could compete in a fun relay. I look at the quilt and see three sisters in the sport goofing off for the camera on the pool deck with blown up balloons strategically placed under their warm up suits, (but modestly over their competition suits). The girls grew up together in swimming pools. I look at the quilt and see the many bright colors of Lauries personality and the stars that resemble not only her qualities, but the fact that her view of the stars is different from mine for now. Thank you for the gift, dear friends--- But, especially HAPPY BIRTHDAY BROOKE HUNSICKER. I love you!!
