I met eddie kendricks for the first time at the burning spear night club on south stony island in chicago. i was introduced to eddie by another eddie eddie thomas curtis mayfields old manager and co-owner of curtom records as in CUR tis & TOM thomas CURTOM. we were at the burning spear with another friend of ours CHUCK JACKSON, whom eddied thomas was also managing of the “CHUCK JACKSON & MARVIN YANCY SONGWRITING THAT WROTE ALL OF NATALIE COLE’S FIRST SONGS. they were songwriters from [“jerry butler, curtis mayfield and the impressions”] the jerry butler songwriter workshop. Chuck jackson, rev. jesse l. jacksons younger brother was singing lead with his group called the independents, AS EDDIE THOMAS WAS AN INDEPENDENT RECORD DISTRIBUTER. eddie kendrick a very warm brother man told after i had said to break the ice; that i too was a songwriter, singer and quartet group song & dance man and fellow Sagittarius EDDIE KENDRICKS SAID WELL BOBBY MEET YOUR NEW BROTHER, EDDIE! Bobby & eddie, it had a ring to it’ and IT WAS THE beginning of a long friendship BETWEEN EDDIE AND I as we had several strange thing in common. we had somewhat similar voices. I sounded ironically like a second tenor version of a combined eddie and otis williams but was a natural first tenor but without the extremely high falsetto what we call the 5th tenor. but i too sang first tenor like eddie. It was my songwriting plus my singing and dancing ability that opened many doors for me, as i was bless to have inherited the natural ability to become an expert back ground singer too because I was always needed to hold the harmonies and dance routes together. Therefore, I almost never sang, lead out front [“ALL THE FUN WAS IN SINGING AND STYLING WITH THE FELLAS “] in most of the many, many vocal group that I have been a part of ...and that was my beginning of an association that lead me to Detroit ……to meet the CAVALIERS the younger brothers of the temptations, who had assume their big brother PAUL EDDIE DAVIDs namesake group and form a second tear background group [David ruffin & the fellas] and provided my Detroit connection and new friendships with Motown ...this new chapter came about and opened the door for lead singer CURTIS HARVEY special friend OF MINE WHO IS THE ONLY PERSON THAT MANY PEOPLE INCLUDING ME BELEVED HAD THE PACKAGE TO SING ALMOST NEAR PERFECTLY AT THE LEVEL BEAUITY THAT EDDIE KENDRICKS SANG ON AND THAT IS SAYING that Curtis HAD A LOCK ON THE FIRST TENOR JOB THAT “eddie had taken to an art form.
