I met with the doctor at Duke today and he told me that the tumor on my left kidney is most likely cancer but, unless they do a biopsy they wont know for sure. Since this tumor needs to come out anyway and the procedure for doing the biopsy is almost as invasive as taking out the tumor, Im going to skip the biopsy. (That is also what the doctor suggested as well.) They will of course do tests to find out after its removed. However, after results of the blood test I have found out that I also have thyroid or parathyroid problems. This issue will most likely lead to surgery to remove the parathyroid. The doctor I saw today set me up an appointment with another specialist at Duke for next Monday to discuss options with this new issue. After next Mondays meeting I will know which surgery is the most time sensitive and we will do that one first.I really hope I can get at least one done before the end of this year both would be great. The prognosis is still very good and both procedures are minimally invasive. So, Im still in good spirits about everything and I thank you all for your thoughts and prayers and ask that you continue to keep me in mind.
