I missed the virtual strike because I didnt realise until too late - TopicsExpress

I missed the virtual strike because I didnt realise until too late that it was happening. Like many others, I had the caring role foisted on to me - I didnt volunteer to become a carer, but I had to do so because of family ties which bound me as surely as a straitjacket. I feel guilty in admitting that I had this selfish desire to lead my life as Id dreamt of doing. The act of caring, although most often driven by love, can put an inhumane burden on the carer, who becomes ensnared in a world of negativity, guilt, exhaustion and, most likely, poverty - not to mention tussles with various authorities in the interests of our loved ones. Were actually caring on the cheap, because we dont get much in the way of compensation or wages - and, Im sure that there are a number of carers who, like me,.. are stripped of their health, wealth (if any) and/or sanity.
