I must say I had just about a passing interest in this years World Series, although I did love the fact that neither team-the Giants or Royals-were among the teams with the highest payrolls in the league! I decided to watch game 1 because I am a baseball fan after all, and was beyond impressed with SF pitcher Madison Bumgarner. Since not much else was on, and I wanted to see him pitch again, I watched game 5. A complete game shut out. Of course I watched game 7-a baseball fan cant pass up a World Series game 7! And after Bumgarner completed 5 innings of shut out relief on one days rest, and his record for the Series was in the books, I was left speechless. In my now lengthy life Ive been lucky enough to see some of the great players of the past 5 decades, watch some euphoric World Series and some heart breakers. But I cant recall a more remarkable performance by any player at any position-not in my experience. Most Valuable Player? OMG-what would have happened without Mad Bums two wins, one save and ONE run given up? Wow. Some sports performances defy description-and this was one of those in my opinion. So congratulations to SF Giants fans-and all I can say about Mad Bum is, Im not worthy. I am not too sure well see a WS performance to match his any time soon :)
