I must share one story about my mother that always stands out to me. When I was 12, I wanted to move into some brand new town homes funded by Section8 housing in Stillwater & I mean they were stunning especially opposed to the run down old rental we were living in. I recall my mom telling me we were not moving - that she was working two jobs to save for a home (the home she still lives in today) & no able bodied woman who can work should take a hand-out. I cried for days - I wanted that new house!!! Flash forward to years later - me as a grown up - who has experienced several layoffs & financial set-backs I recall my moms quote, theres always work for a hard worker. I do not say this to disparage anyone who is taking government funds because they truly need help to get back on their feet... Im saying this because this life lesson has served me well. Mom Debbie Loida you are so sweet & kind but its your fortitude that sustains me.
