I need feminism because 40% of 8 year old girls say they want to be thinner. I used to think I wasnt a feminist, because people who said they were feminists told me what I had to believe to be a feminist. There are too many men that I know well and love for me to ever descend into man bashing. But decades ago when I was an 8 year old, being thinner wasnt on my radar. Back then, that didnt start happening until adolescence. The fact that it is now an issue for girl children tells me that this is another way the world has gotten worse. Thats why I agree with the premise of this article.
