I need some help. A few days ago I posted about my lab x cross that ate chocolate Xmas presents, shes fine but unfortunately shes picked up a very bad habit. We came home last night to find shed gone snooping under the Xmas tree again, thankfully wed learned our lesson the first time and there was nothing she could poison herself on this time round but she had managed to rip open all of the presents and although nothing was destroyed permanently thankfully it was clear she was in search of the same treats as last time. Today we left her in the garden and her and my great Dane x boy tore the rubbish bins apart. Its the kind of behavior Id expect from my boy as he is always really unruly and is kept on a shorter leash so to speak because of it. But Ive had my girl for 11 yrs and shed be regarded as the best behaved dog as anyone thats ever met her has said. As Ive said this isnt her first Xmas and shes never been a food thief before. I know its probably my boy rubbing off on her. But she knows shes not supposed to do it. Tonight Ive done a bit of leave it training but Im wondering does anyone have any tips? Sorry about the big, long post but Im so disappointed with her from the scare of her ingesting chocolate earlier in the week to her really acting out and wrecking Xmas presents the last few nights. Please note, I cannot crate her.
