I need to dig up some before and after pics of this girl, because the transformation is really beyond magnificent. Really a photo wouldnt do it. If only I could rewind time and take a video. But first I have to tell you a little about us.... My fosters families are mostly very independent of me. I am just not the micro managing sort, and I feel like they know whats best for them. Although my free spirit style has occasionally bit me in the butt, its been worth it to have my families know that I not only trust them implicitly, but also value their opinions and have absolute faith in the choices they make. Barbara, for instance has been with me for nearly as long as I have been coordinator. When she tells me she wants to pull a dog, my only response is to ask when she wants to bring it to me for vetting and if she needs anything else from me. Beyond that, I know that she is making her choice based on the same three things I base decisions on... 1) Is it in the best interest of her family? 2) Is it in the best interest of the dog? 3) Is it in the best interest of HSCC? In that order. And so I knew when she pulled up in her car..... and I opened the back door to see a quivering, bald, scabby, terrified, bloody mange covered dog in the back seat....that that dog was with her because it should be with her. Her name is Ireland. Months of confidence building socialization and a small fortune in medication later....check out what a vibrant and lovely dog she has become. Caterpillar to butterfly....you aint got nothing on this dog. -Laura
