I need to find a good rhumey dr in the knox - chattanooga area. My son Ryan has been sick for like 6 years. It all began with a serious case of reoccuring mono. Of course I was concerned we thought it was just mono ,but hi fever would get high and he was in severe pain. You can have momo,extrme mono,different levels or u can have extreme repeadative mono. I know now ,didnt then. He kept being sick and we kept taking him to thr dr. and prayers. He had been out of school a significant amount of time when the dr. put him in the home bound program. The teacher would come like 3 days a week for an hour or two. Ryan was so sick and she could see that ,he was not able to hrdly sit for the class let alonh learn.we tried to work with him but it was so difficult. they then sent him back to school for half days,which the dr. had to fight with them about him going in the afternoon instead of morning,at this time they had decided the two bouts of severe mono had given him chronic fatique,he was so wewk he could hardly get dressed yet we sent him to school.(which I now regret) they were told to let him rest as needed and did not insteatyelled and berated my child,I didnt know this,his papaw would take him and pick him up and they were constantly on him,whish he dmatly complained about. I was like school is almost out,he will be well for 8th grade. He gradually got worse all summer and I was desperatly trying to find a dr. to help him before school started. We took him to so many drs, family drs, adolosant drs,physychiatrist because yes he was depressed he had been in extreme pain for almost 2 yrs and noone would help us. we went to 3 or 4 rhumey dr,who would barely do anything and do blood work they finally said he has repeatative mono which has caused chronic fatique which has caused his muscles to break down. We finally found a dr who told us all that and that he had 3 different types of arthritus,extremly low vit d. he was above ut in downtown knoxville and at this time I had surgery and couldnt take him and my husband couldnt miss 1 day of work.He wanted to start Ryan on some type arthtritus shots and other meds he was on. We had a problem Ryan terrified of shots then demanded he would not take dailly shots.Of course were saying thats what he needs ,this caused enormous friction in the home and other problems.So since I had no way to get him there and he was having major eposides about it .we stopped. I thought we will see how he does ,because the trauma amd physciatric problems were worse than the pain. I thought we could resume with this dr at a later date when he had theropey and understood that it was necassarY Well when school started,i have never been so frustrated and overwhelmed. i was sick but trying to work a physical job. everyday I picked him up he was in a rage or fit. so back in we went,they had a new principple that was our problem. My .frazor was a very understanding man and cared for his students. This women was about her high power she told my husband on first day that she would be watching us because of Ryans absentees last yr. My husband took the documinttion to here for homebound and half days and the time the dr had taken him out of school.She said she didnt care he would be put in special ed this is a child who won best over all in tcaps 6th grade and had mad bcand ds in school but was very intelligant ,he was learning to spell 3 letter words after a wk of this I told her we wouldnt b back and we began home school. He was still very sick and knoe the dr in knoxville reguses us to see him says once you stop coming u are dropped as a patient. Since then we have been to more rhumey dr, 2 nuerologist a sleep study had varis test run and noone can find any thing( my belief is they didnt try,had one or 2 say he was faking) Im a mom an13-18 yr old child doe not stop having any lfe ,nevr going anywhere and screaming in pain for 6 yrs how insane. He has cried,been to preachers to be prayed for,studied the bible,gave his heaet to Jesus,so thankful.He is not faking we spent like a 1000.00 last year to switch insurance plans so he could go where everyone assuredme was the best rhumey dr. Dr Huffstster,who did nothing except have blood work done half lisened to his history and said he is fine he has fibro and chronic fatique,wouldnt talk about an arthritus regime which I know was working before and would prob help. He told me to go home and go to bed I was to sick for help. We have about reached the end of our ropes,Dr carter set us to dr.summida for an upper gi as Ryan was hving severe pain. I reviewed Ryans case with him and he said Ryan needs to go to a major hospital like vanderbilt,a large hospital where they would have a rhumeyologist specialist . he said the rhumey drs in east tn. where nut trained to the level to diognose ryan nor did they have the proper testing equipment. So we immediatly found a rhumey specialist in Nashville at vanderbilt on our ins. upon making the appt. I assumed I would need a refferal so I sked,they said yes the refering dr. would hv to make the appt.so i call dr sumida and am told he cant make the appt as he is a surgeon to go back to dr. carter who for some reason thinks my child is fine????I want write a comment to that.WE R IN DESPERATE NEED OF A FAMILY DR. OR A RHUMEY DR. THAT WOULD LOOK AY RYANS FILE ,TALK TO HIM,CK HIM AND WRITE US THIS REFERRAL.rYANS LIFE CANNOT CONTINUE UNTIL HE IS DIOGNOSED TO SEE ABOUT COLLEGE ,WORK ANYTHING HE SPEND S HIS LIFE IN BED OR ON THE COUCH CRYING IN PAIN ,CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP US!
