I need to take a moment and apologize to everyone for not being at Dukes & Boots enough over the past few months... My staff, my friends, my investors, my guests... Ive had a lot on my plate and I want to let you know whats been up. As you know the Tipton Dukes didnt make it for many reasons and Ive been dealing with that. I still believe strongly in the concept and learned many lessons for the good because of it. I let a lot of people down and am truly sorry for that. There will be more Dukes in the future. Secondly and probably more important is my health. Some of you know and many of you dont know but I had Gastric Bypass Surgery 10 1/2 years ago. It was a success. One of the main reasons why, was because I was diagnosed with Diabetes II. This surgery is a cure for that 95% of the time.... well... apparently...Im in the 5%. I was re-diagnosed in November of last year and re-confirmed at the beginning of this year with Diabetes II. My Glucose counts were very high and my A1C Test came back and confirmed it as well. I have taken a lot of personal time to get my head around this. That is why you have seen me post so many #HealthyLifestyle Pics and Recipes, running, walking paths, etc... . I have a great Dr. (Timothy Ryan in Marshal) along with his staff as well as a FANTASTIC Nutritionist and motivator, Jessica Mango, that has taught me so many things that this guy that knows everything... didnt know. I went through a period of self pity, denial, why did I go thru a year of my life for nothing with that surgery, scared of going blind, losing limbs, dying young.... I now know that I can change my lifestyle, I can listen to my Dr and Nutritionist. lose weight, (Im down 40 pounds so far), exercise, and put my mind on work and you.... I can Live. I just wanted to share with you because.... its because of you that I that I want to live.... and make a difference. Look for some exciting changes coming to The Big Red Barn this Summer!
