I never considered myself political. Sure I had political - TopicsExpress

I never considered myself political. Sure I had political opinions, but I was busy working and saw no point in standing up - away from my PC and TV. I buried my hands in my head at the indignities forced on the public, the working and the non working - but felt I had no voice. I have also never considered myself a socialist although subconsciously like many others adhered to many socialist dogmas ( health for all, social support for those in need, workplace rights etc). But with changes to my circumstances, and changes to the financial health of our great country, I felt I had no choice but to try and help to repair Great Britain. That is why I am standing as a candidate for the West Hampstead area of Camden in May.. I have lived in West Hampstead for the last 14 years and still remember when Kilburn High Rd was more than phone shops, loan shops and supermarkets. I previously lived in Kentish Town for 3 years in the 1990s. I qualified as a registered nurse in 1990 and since then worked in a few London hospitals, both as a permanent member of staff and as an agency nurse (zero hour contract with no guarantee of work). Due to health problems I lost my job several years ago and have been subjected to the infamous ATOS/DWP medicals (currently getting NI contributions only and having to live off my partner). I believe this has given me a fairly rounded life experience, although I am under no illusion that I know everything.
