I never do this but after last night I feel i have to say something. Last night I wanted to go see my friend Rob Gale and his band Gale County play in Fitchburg on the upper common. The band is one of the best bands in central mass and as always I expected to see a large turn out. The weather was great and the night was just right for a great concert and all 15 people that showed up enjoyed it. Thats right, 15 people. The band played and put on a great show as they always do but to see only 15 people show up was very sad to see. After talking to a few people that attended I found out that the week before only 10 people attended. I dont know whats going on in Fitchburg but I would think who ever is responsible for putting these concerts on would work a little harder on putting the word out to the public. I did see a small banner placed on each side of the gazebo but other than that there is nothing to let the public know that there is a concert being held every Wednesday night from 6-8pm. The bands that play for these concerts do it to entertain, and put a lot of work into making sure that what they do is nothing less than their very best and deserve better. If they can work hard at what they do to make sure, we the public that go see them, are entertained, then the city or the people that run the concerts can put a little more effort in there promotions. If anyone else feels the same way I would ask you to contact the Mayor of Fitchburg and her staff and let them know. Some times emails and phone calls go a long way.
