I never imagined that Id be so passionately pursued by a White man. This man asked for my number so that we can talk about work-related issues and now, hes talking issues of romance. Hes been calling daily, asking for a chance. Ive been turning him down and hes just not taking no for an answer. So a few days ago he called while I was with my friend Mthobisi and I asked Mtho to answer the phone and speak to him. I thought knowing that I really am not available would deter him, but no. He sent me a long message saying hes not going anywhere until I at least go on a date with him. I dont think hes genuine. I dont believe that any White person who knows my views would genuinely want to date me. I think White men see Black women as exotic creatures. We fascinate them. They look at us and think: I wonder how it would feel like to run my hands through all that kaffir hair. Plus this one is from the United Kingdom so I think in his case it is even more fascination with Blackness than it would be with a South-Afrikan born White person. He probably thinks: So these colonised people can actually have views...how interesting! But then again, maybe Im politicising a simple issue. I guess I just have a problem believing that Whites have capacity to be genuine. Whites rarely ever do anything out of authentic sincerity. Youd think he really wants you to be his woman kanti he sees a BEE opportunity in you. You cant trust these people...
