I never read any Chetan Bhagat novel, I believe that guy is way overrated and writes for a simpleminded drove of engineering students and inane software professionals whose life is simplistic like drones in a massive machinery of corporate jobs and set out goals. Go to IIM/IIT, make a shit load of money in the private sector (mostly MNCs) and then take a sabbatical to write a novel which reflects the similar life of so called educated hip crowd. If it works its good, if not go back to the security and comfort of your bank or software firm jobs. Also, use the huge amount of accumulated money to promote your book and create a marketing machinery behind it rather than depending on the sheer merits of your creation. This is a dangerous trend in most writers nowadays. Rabindranath Tagore, Ruskin Bond, Sunil Gangopadhyay, Munsi Premchand, never had any bank or IT jobs to fall back to and still they made it to be come the most venerated writers of their generations, it was just sheer talent, grit and hard work. They set a huge benchmark for aspiring writers. Its sad to see that level has been degraded by these popular novelists. When Bhagats stories are significantly changed for the screen they make excellent movies like 3 Idiots and Kai Po Che, but when they try to remain faithful to the text there is major disappointment like 2 states. Good thing, my good sense prevailed and I didnt waste money to watch it in a theater, downloaded the pirated version and fell asleep halfway through. Dont watch this movie, dont give your money to Chetan Bhagat, this guy is out there to rob you off your money and intellect.
