I never thought I would be playing this tell us X things about you - TopicsExpress

I never thought I would be playing this tell us X things about you we might not know game but since my very best Facebook friend (VBFF, for short), Beth Borkowski Zagryn has tasked me with posting a whopping ten items, I guess I will. TEN; can you believe it? Weve been Facebook friends for nearly eighty three years and I have to post ten? [Sigh] 1. Ive been running and weight training like a man possessed but not for long enough that it really shows. (Yup, that counts as one.) 2. I had such a tough time in a ballroom dancing class on the Cha Cha earlier this month that I almost started disliking that dance. (Instead, I had my instructor focus on Cha Cha in our individual sessions because I didnt want to sour on it over one frustrating experience.) 3. I enlisted in the US Military much later than the average person. I was older than my Basic Military Training Instructors and this did not earn me any special favors. (I got leadership opportunities instead.) 4. I have no children but Ive treated many pets as if they were my children over the years, including referring to myself as dad and my ex-wife as their mom. 5. In high school and college, I donated blood so frequently that I would occasionally have to show my donor card to prove to the phlebotomist that the marks were not needle tracks. 6. I spoke Italian before I spoke English. My kindergarten teacher thought I had a hearing problem until she realized that I didnt actually speak English. (I suppose if I was not looking at someone who was speaking to me, I didnt respond.) 7. Because I was younger, shorter, and less confident than my peers, I was a frequent target of bullies throughout childhood. I harbor a righteous disdain for anyone who would mistreat those they consider weak or inferior. 8. While working in North Carolina, years ago, I reported directly to one of the worst workplace bullies Ive ever encountered. She took pleasure in rattling so many people, so often, so openly, that she was eventually stripped of that authority. It took more than one brave subordinate (plus wise leaders above the bully) to make this happen. 9. One of my favorite hobbies is something I spent years thinking about taking up before finally deciding to stop thinking and start doing. 10. This year I learned that a positively horrible occurrence, no matter how agonizing and unfortunate, is NOT enough to make life horrible in the long run. The only way for that to happen is if the attitude is *self-inflicted*.
