I never thought Wrong Num83r could be this big,i mean my initial story had only two characters & i was planning to use a phone to film it for fun & experimentation...then i started thinking about it in a big way,we had done auditions for a Series like two years ago & i started putting pieces together. My meeting with great friend & Co.Producer Zeph Mwangi was the turning point. We decided to go full throttle on it & sure enough within weeks, the quest to climb the hill began. Most of my characters i had to call each of them & explain to them about my plans & were delighted about it.Others joined in as we had already set the pace.Infact if they can recall, our first meeting was to happen somewhere in Mountain View but later i changed to Idyllic Mistley House which happened to be our signature meeting point for the rest of our shooting.I was green in terms of filming & i had to rely on consultation & advice from Karanja John (MediaLine) & Mburu Kimani(Directed machachari or so)..i have great respect for these gentlemen because what they told me is all i encountered including distribution, marketing & challenges that were ahead. With the shooting in progress, challenges were there because most of the cast & crew were also new & the project was much bigger than we anticipated...over 80% of my cast & crew were or are still students from K.U. I dont have any back ground in film or related fields.Technically am an accountant but the much i worked was only 26 days then i quit because the idea of sitting with a computer 8 hours daily wasnt my thing & i started my own ventures. The idea of film came into my mind in 2010 when i watched an Australian film Gone that had only three characters & i liked what they had done.I decided to try & from then on i have been working & nurturing this dream primarily as a passion & the urge to tell a story. And i have many by the way. I have met challenges because i think even up to date, some people cant get over the fact that i can organize a full feature, different locations, cast & command a structure from the top.In fact some offices i have visited could not understand what i was talking about,i even started thinking that film makers have a unique look..lol. But am designed for rough terrain,i start what i finish & the challenges have strengthened my quest.Launching Wrong Number will be a win in so many ways especially considering that only 2 or 3 Films Launch annually in Kenya & majority of these are Donor funded & produced. My journey in film hasnt started,i have blueprints that calls for execution.I have been able to establish a wide network of people that matter in the game & in some instance several options in cast, equipments & general logistics. At list in the next project that i plan to produce & direct i will have the edge in most of the challenges that wore me down in my initial project. Nothing comes easy, but we cant walk away because we fear to fail, our part is to try & give it our best, the rest we leave it to nature. I sincerely thank the team,am sure they also have taken home something that can assist them in future projects.I will also be there to ensure Wrong Number will set a platform for them in pursuing other projects inform of Show Reels & other ways that will enhance their quest. The industry is young, challenging & isolated but i think am in it for the long haul Co-Producer Mwangi Kaburugu(K.B.G)
